Makina Optik was founded in İstanbul in 1956 as the representative of Carl Zeiss Jena. In the 1960s and 1970s it imported and serviced optical, mechanical and electronic instruments for medicine, engineering and research, and supplied universities and teaching hospitals.The company later focused on ophthalmology. It introduced excimer and femtosecond laser technology in Türkiye with Zeiss Meditec and IntraLase. Since 2000 it has handled sales, support and training for Moria microkeratome systems, steel and single-use surgical instruments.Today Makina Optik distributes Moria, Ferrara Ring, Intacs and AJL Ophthalmic products for refractive, corneal and keratoplasty surgery. It works from its İstanbul head office and an Ankara branch.
