Turklab was established in 1996 in Izmir in a 150 square meter workshop, starting as a manufacturer of pregnancy tests. It reached a 10% domestic market share in its first year. In 2000 it won its first international client, a German pharmacy chain with 12,000 branches, and its first exported product was an OTC pregnancy test. In 2003 it set up the SK Research and Development Company within Türklab.

In 2008 the company moved to a bigger plant at AOSB Izmir, expanded its range from 1 to 25+ items and exported to 34 countries through 100+ distributors. In 2010 it acquired Gökhan Laboratories, established in 1980 as one of the first laboratory equipment producers in Türkiye, and its range grew to over 200 products. In 2014 it moved to a new facility with higher technology and capacity at ITOB Izmir.

Turklab plans further R&D investment, participation in international research programmes such as Horizon 2020, and a wider product portfolio, while keeping its in-vitro diagnostic test kits to the highest quality standards.
